In the New Year, looking forward (5)

In the New Year, looking forward… we all wish to have a better year than last year.

What do we want to do in 2020 and what accomplishments to add in the new decade 2020-2030?

With these questions in mind, lets look at Luke 12:13-21... Jesus told his disciples a parable of a fool who wanted to build bigger barns to store more grain and goods. For most people, bigger barns could be one of the followings: more money, higher positions, business expansion, or more possessions. The world promotes more and higher... once a goal is achieved, we are told to set higher goals, never really satisfied!

In Matt 6:33, Jesus told us to seek God and His rightenousness first, and He will give us everything else. In Luke 11:28, Jesus said a person who hears and obeys God’s words is blessed more.

At some point in our life, especially at our half time age 50 to 60, we should enjoy God’s blessings and really know God’s riches and great power because our time is fleeting. Let’s seek to know God first in 2020 and in the new decade, 2020-2030. This should be our first goal and I pray that all of us really want that.

Prayer this week:

Father in heaven, thank you for saving me from my hopeless and sinful self and give me peace, joy, and hope. Please help me to obey Your words. Please renew my heart, mind and spirit each and every day. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
