The Prayer of Jabez

The Prayer of Jabez… “You would enlarge my territory”. Many people think that Jabez is referring to physical land in this prayer. Yes, Jabez did. However, if we look at the lineage of Jabez we can see that God’s plans did not merely include his physical assets, land and wealth, but also included impact to the kingdom of God. God wanted Jabez’ “spiritual territory” to increase and multiply, to claim more lives and to impact more generations for God. This points to God’s good plans for us, plans that include the physical aspects, and the mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects as well. God is sovereign over all things and all aspects of our life.

When we pray, ask God to save more souls for Jesus (our family, friends, acquaintances, neighbors, people we meet who don’t know or don’t believe in Jesus), and ask God to do more thru us by enlarging or multiplying our territory for His glory!

In the Believer’s Prayer, Jesus told us to pray for forgiveness (Matthew 6:12). When we forgive people, we make friends. When we love people, we increase our impact in the world. Jesus said people know that we are Christians because we love one another (John 13:35).

The Holy Spirit (the Comforter) walks along side with us to help us. Thank you Father-God.
